The Nieman Foundation for Journalism has selected 24 journalists as members of the 76th class of Nieman Fellows at Harvard University. Boston’s NPR news station, WBUR, has named Richard Chacón executive director of news content. In the newly created position, he will oversee all of the station’s local news content and resources for both radio and digital reporting. Read more
Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, came to the throne in 1999. Since then, he has expanded the rights of women, modernized his country, and established Bahrain as a financial center in the region. Two years ago, on February 14, 2011, several thousand demonstrators gathered in the Bahraini capital, Manama, to demand more popular political participation and reform.
