Thomas Dolan, a longtime reporter for The Buffalo News and a member of the Nieman class of 1975, has died at age 70. Dolan worked at The News for more than 26 years, working as a financial reporter before joining the city desk. He started his news career as a copy editor at the South Bend Tribune before moving to the Buffalo Evening News in the 1960s. He later worked as an investigative reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times and as a television news producer for WBBM-TV before returning to Buffalo and The News in 1982. His stories about a comptroller who embezzled $1.5 million from the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo won a first-place award from the New York State Associated Press Association in 1992.
