Jacqui Banaszynski

Jacqui Banaszynski is the editor of Nieman Storyboard, the foundation’s online publication that promotes and highlights exceptional narrative journalism and explores the craft of nonfiction storytelling. She is a Knight Chair professor emerita at the Missouri School of Journalism, and faculty fellow at The Poynter Institute. Banaszynski, a Pulitzer-prize winning reporter, now coaches reporters, writers and editors around the world. In 2008, she was named to the Society of Features Journalists Hall of Fame. Michael Morisy

Michael Morisy is a cofounder and chief executive of MuckRock, a nonprofit public records tool that helps file, track, and analyze public records requests. Part of the MuckRock Foundation, which also runs DocumentCloud and oTranscribe, the platform has helped file over 66,000 requests in all 50 states plus at the federal level. Morisy was previously an editor at The Boston Globe, where he launched the paper’s technology vertical BetaBoston. He is currently a 2018-19 nonresidential fellow at the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the University of Missouri. He can be reached at michael@muckrock.com.

Julia Haslanger

Julia Haslanger is an engagement strategist and data and projects manager at Hearken, a tech-enabled consultancy that helps newsrooms and content creators of all kinds shift their processes and practices to work for the information age. Hearken believes this transition is not about technology, it’s about fundamentally evolving how newsrooms think and behave from the boardroom to the editorial table. Haslanger can provide guidance on setting goals, analyzing audience data or production data, social media strategy, data visualization, design, communicating between editorial and product, training reporters on engagement practices, and creating job descriptions for engagement roles.
