Three Nieman Fellows were among the recipients of the 2010 National Headliner Awards: Guy Raz, Elizabeth Leland, and Margie Mason.

Guy Raz, NF‘09, and two of his NPR colleagues won first place in the Broadcast Division’s “Feature or Human Interest Story” category for “Every Plant has Meaning on ‘Island of Bar Codes’“.

Elizabeth Leland, NF‘92, received second place in the “Feature Writing on a Variety of Subjects” category for a collection of features written for The Charlotte Observer.

Margie Mason, NF‘09, and an Associated Press colleague  received a third place nod in the Health/Medical Science Writing category for the five-part series “When Drugs Stop Working.

Founded in 1934 by the Press Club of Atlantic City, the National Headliner Awards program is one of the oldest and largest annual contests recognizing journalistic merit in the communications industry.
