Celeste LeCompte, NF ’15, wins 2016 Mirror Award

Celeste LeCompte, NF ’15, is the recipient of a 2016 Mirror Award for her article “Automation in the Newsroom,” which appeared in the Summer 2015 issue of Nieman Reports. The cover story, which was recognized in the “Best Single Article – Digital Media” category, explores how algorithms are helping reporters expand coverage, engage audiences, and respond to breaking news.

The Mirror Awards, administered by Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, honor excellence in media industry reporting. Two other Nieman Fellows were finalists for their work in Nieman Reports. Monica Campbell, NF ’10, was a finalist in the “Best Single Article – Traditional/Legacy Media” category for “Despite Violence, Journalists in Mexico Innovate to Report.” Anastasia Taylor-Lind, NF ’16, was a finalist in the “Best Single Article – Digital Media” for her story “Sharing the Viewfinder: Instagram as a Medium for Documentary Photography.”
