Bryan Monroe, NF '03, has been appointed the Verizon Chair professor at Temple University’s School of Media and Communication. Monroe previously served as vice president and editorial director at Ebony and Jet magazines and from 1991 to 2002, was the deputy managing editor of The San Jose Mercury News. He was also assistant vice president and a corporate officer at Knight Ridder, where he was responsible for many of the company’s 32 newsrooms and helped lead the Biloxi (Mississippi) Sun Herald to win the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for their coverage of Hurricane Katrina. Most recently, from 2011 to February 2015, he served as an editor at CNN.
