Meet the Nieman Class of 2027

The 89th class of Nieman Fellows includes accomplished journalists based in 12 different countries who cover topics ranging from climate change, marginalized communities, and the human impact of war to corruption, economic inequality, disinformation, and national security.

Reporter Hannah Dreier’s in-depth New York Times “Exposed and Expendable” investigation about the health risks faced by firefighters is winner of the 2025 Worth Bingham Prize for Investigative Journalism.

2026 I.F. Stone Medal Announced

Alfredo Corchado, executive editor of the Puente News Collaborative, is winner of the 2026 I.F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence for his work directing innovative reporting on the U.S-Mexico border.

“Alligator Alcatraz” wins Taylor Award

“Alligator Alcatraz” by the Miami Herald and Tampa Bay Times is winner of the 2025 Taylor Family Award for Fairness in Journalism. Finalists are The New York Times and The Connecticut Mirror/ProPublica.

Fellowships

Since 1938, the Nieman Foundation for Journalism has brought more than 1,700 promising and accomplished journalists from 100 countries to Harvard for a year of study, innovation and experimentation.
