Our 80th anniversary reunion weekend kicked off with an opening reception at Lippmann House before guests headed to Harvard’s Memorial Church for Nieman Live! The presentation featured alumni stories about journalists and journalism. Jonathan Walton, Pusey Minister in Memorial Church and a friend of Nieman, offered closing remarks.

Saturday began with a treasured reunion tradition: the 90-Minute Nieman, lightning talks from some of the biggest brains on campus, including former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power and Anupam Jena, professor of health care policy at Harvard Medical School and a physician at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Immediately following, Juan Manuel Santos, NF ’88, former president of Colombia and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, discussed his efforts to bring peace to his country after five decades of civil war.

In the afternoon,  a panel of distinguished journalists discussed journalism and activism. In the evening, Nieman alumni, affiliates, guests and staff gathered for a gala dinner in the stunning surroundings of the Boston Public Library’s Bates Hall.

The weekend ended with a farewell brunch on Sunday morning back at Lippmann House.

Once a Nieman, always a Nieman. Welcome fellows!
