The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard today unveils a new logo and a redesigned, responsive website that integrates information about Nieman Fellowships with content produced by our three journalistic publications: Nieman Storyboard, Nieman Lab and Nieman Reports. Nieman Storyboard showcases the art and craft of narrative nonfiction; Nieman Lab explores innovation in digital media; and Nieman Reports covers thought leadership in journalism.

For our Web redesign, Nieman commissioned Boston-based Upstatement, which also designed the websites for Harvard Law Review, NPR and BostonGlobe.com, among others. Nieman Lab director Joshua Benton redesigned the Lab site. For the new logo and Nieman Reports’s print design, we turned to Pentagram in New York, the world’s largest independent design consultancy.

The latest issue of Nieman Reports also launches today, featuring “Where are the Women?” a cover story that examines the state of female newsroom leadership. As part of our reporting for this story, Nieman Reports examined research papers on gender in journalism leadership and interviewed more than 40 academics, media entrepreneurs, investors, publishers, executives, and current and former editors from more than two dozen organizations. We found that solutions do exist, as do bright spots that hint at better approaches to ensure diversity, but that they’re going to take time. All the more reason to start now.

This issue of Nieman Reports also features stories on the challenges of reporting in Cuba; “Finding the Tribe,” about the comeback of podcasts; a look at the recent upheaval in French journalism; and much more.

For more than 75 years, Nieman has provided important forums, resources and information to journalists everywhere seeking ways to improve their reporting and innovate in their newsrooms.
