Nieman announces named fellowships for the class of 2016

The Nieman Foundation today announced all named fellowships for the Nieman class of 2016. These fellowships are supported by foundation grants and endowed funds that provide financial assistance to journalists from the United States and abroad. For the first time, Nieman will award the Anja Niedringhaus Nieman Fellowship for Visual Journalism to documentary photographer Andrea Bruce, whose work brings attention to people living in war and its aftermath as well as the social issues that are sometimes ignored and often ignited in war’s wake. The fellowship honors the memory of 2007 Nieman Fellow and AP photographer Anja Niedringhaus, who was shot and killed while on assignment in Afghanistan in the spring of 2014. Read more

The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard announces a new visual journalism fellowship in honor of Nieman Fellow Anja Niedringhaus, a Pulitzer Prize-winning Associated Press photographer who was shot and killed this year while covering the run-up to elections in Afghanistan. Nieman Foundation launches new logo and new websites

The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard today unveils a new logo and a redesigned, responsive website that integrates information about Nieman Fellowships with content produced by our three journalistic publications: Nieman Storyboard, Nieman Lab and Nieman Reports. Nieman Storyboard showcases the art and craft of narrative nonfiction; Nieman Lab explores innovation in digital media; and Nieman Reports covers thought leadership in journalism. Read more

Nieman Foundation announces 2014 Visiting Fellows

Foundation announces its 75th class of Nieman Fellows

The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard has selected 24 journalists from the United States and abroad as members of the 75th class of Nieman Fellows. The group includes journalists who work across all media platforms as reporters, editors, radio and television broadcasters, photojournalists and digital media pioneers. Read more

Nieman Foundation announces Class of 2012

The Nieman Foundation has selected 24 journalists from the United States and abroad to become the 74th class of Nieman Fellows. Announcing the class, Nieman Foundation curator Bob Giles said “The class of 2012 includes journalists who have reported from around the globe on an extraordinarily wide range of topics and, in many cases, under dangerous circumstances. They will bring diverse interests and experiences that will enrich one another and the Harvard community. This new class of fellows holds great promise for leadership and advancing the practice of serious journalism in difficult times.” Read more
