Nieman Fellows collect fall awards

Three current Nieman Fellows have won journalism awards this fall for work done online and on air. Homicide Watch D.C., co-founded by Nieman Fellow Laura Amico and her husband Chris, took home the Knight Award for Public Service at the Online News Association’s annual conference in San Francisco. The couple received a standing ovation when the award was announced, a hard-earned reward after running the website out of their home for two years and struggling for funding. Accepting the award, Laura said “We mark every death, we remember every victim and we follow every case.” Chris noted, “For everyone who is on their own, building a business from the ground up, this one’s for you.” Read more

Blair Kamin wins urban journalism award

Blair Kamin, the Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic of the Chicago Tribune, has been chosen as the 2012 winner of Urban Communication Foundation's Gene Burd Urban Journalism Award. He will be honored at the UCF's annual Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication conference in Chicago on August 10. Kamin is a 2013 Nieman Fellow. Read more

Foundation announces its 75th class of Nieman Fellows

The Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard has selected 24 journalists from the United States and abroad as members of the 75th class of Nieman Fellows. The group includes journalists who work across all media platforms as reporters, editors, radio and television broadcasters, photojournalists and digital media pioneers. Read more
