Meet the Nieman Class of 2027

The 89th class of Nieman Fellows includes accomplished journalists based in 12 different countries who cover topics ranging from climate change, marginalized communities, and the human impact of war to corruption, economic inequality, disinformation, and national security.

Reporter Hannah Dreier’s in-depth New York Times “Exposed and Expendable” investigation about the health risks faced by firefighters is winner of the 2025 Worth Bingham Prize for Investigative Journalism.

Alfredo Corchado, executive editor of the Puente News Collaborative, is winner of the 2026 I.F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence for his work directing innovative reporting on the U.S-Mexico border.

Dong Yuyu, NF ’07, faces new challenges

The family of journalist Dong Yuyu, a 2007 Nieman Fellow and highly regarded editor who has been in prison in China since 2022, reports that he is now facing serious health issues.
