In a video Op-Ed by documentary filmmakers Molly Bingham, Class of 2005, and Steve Connors, Iraqis explain the roots of the insurgency.
"The insurgency is mainly composed of ordinary Iraquis, not Qaeda operatives or former regime members. This group formed spontaneously under the banner of Islam. They are engineers, officers, teachers, normal people, cultured people. ... All of them are committed Muslims who follow the prescribed rites of Islam," the video states.
