The Seattle Times has won a Pulitzer Prize in the breaking news reporting category for coverage of the Oso, Wash., mudslide. The natural disaster, which occurred last March, killed 43 people and destroyed many homes. Two Niemans--Ken Armstong, NF '01, and Craig Welch, NF '07--led efforts to cover the tragedy, penning stories such as "Mudslide survivors, rescuers tell their stories of tragic day."
