Tom Witosky, NF ’92, has co-authored a new book with Marc Hansen, “Equal Before the Law: How Iowa Led Americans to Marriage Equality.” The book, published by University of Iowa Press, traces the impact of the Iowa Supreme Court’s decision in Varnum v. Brien, which made Iowa the third state in the nation to permit same-sex couples to wed. Witosky worked for more than three decades at The Des Moines Register, where he served as an investigative journalist and sports writer. He is currently an instructor at Drake University’s journalism school.
