Arlington, VA, September 24, 2008 — WJLA-TV is pleased to announce that Roberta Baskin and the WJLA I-Team won the Emmy® for Outstanding Regional News Story – Investigative Reporting. The news story entitled Drilling for Dollars covered the I-Team’s reports on local dental clinics abusive treatments on Medicaid children. The award was given on Monday, September 22, 2008 in New York City during the 29th Annual News & Documentary Emmy® Awards. The News & Documentary Emmy® Awards is a major national broadcast journalism competition. It promotes journalistic excellence by awarding the coveted Emmy® to the very best news reports and documentary films aired on national television each year.

“It’s a special honor to get a national Emmy®, and an even bigger honor to work with such a talented and tenacious I-Team!” said Investigative Reporter Baskin. The Drilling for Dollars investigative team included: Producer Sandy Bergo, Associate Producer Kelly Lanzara, Photographer Peter Hakel and Editor Richard Martin.
