The MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, N.H., has announced that it will offer the John S. Carroll Fellowship in journalism annually over the next three years. The fellowship honors the award-winning editor of The Baltimore Sun and the Los Angeles Times who died on June 14, 2015, and will support journalists engaged in long-form work. The new program is part of the MacDowell’s Art of Journalism Initiative. The Carroll Fellowship was established by one of his friends to celebrate Carroll’s legacy as a champion of outstanding journalism.
