Dear Sirs,

On March 12th, 2007, BBC Gaza correspondent Alan Johnston was kidnapped in territory under your authority. Since his abduction no one has heard from Mr. Johnston, a journalist with a long-standing reputation for fairness in his coverage of the Middle East and Palestine.

The Palestinian Authority is responsible for maintaining law and order within its borders. Such responsibility includes ensuring the safety of journalists operating in its territory. We urge you to re-double your efforts to secure his immediate and safe release.

Regards,
