Below are some of the Harvard IT tools and services Niemans will need to get started on campus.

Before Orientation

1. Harvard ID (HUID)
Your ID card and 8-digit HUID number provide access to Harvard buildings, facilities, and resources. You will need this before you can move on to the next steps.
When your ID card is ready, it can be picked up at:

If you have questions about your HUID, contact Ellie.
Be sure to have a government-issued photo ID with you (driver's license or passport).

Please note: Before you proceed to the next steps, you must have a phone with an active United States phone number.

2. HarvardKey
Claim your login credential for accessing the Harvard network and applications
3. Okta
Verify your identity for HarvardKey-protected tools and resources
4. Duo
An additional two-step verification necessary for access to Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School
5. Microsoft 365
Access collaboration and productivity services, including Outlook, Teams, and Office
6. Nieman Events Calendar
Learn how to add the Events Calendar to all your devices

Before You Start Classes

1. Harvard Wi-Fi
Connect securely to Harvard's wireless network on campus

Receive critical alerts in the event of an emergency
3. Zoom
Meet, collaborate, and learn online (integrated with Canvas)
4. Crimson Print
Connect to shared printers in public and departmental spaces

Access your Canvas dashboard for course syllabi, materials, and more

Mandatory HUIT Onboarding Session

Tuesday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 19 : Staff from Harvard IT (HUIT) will be available at Lippmann House from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. to help you connect to Harvard internet and install necessary tools and services. You must have your Harvard ID before you can work with representatives from HUIT.

Please sign up for a time slot with a technician.

Bring all your devices (phone, tablet, laptop) that you will use to access your Harvard account. All devices should have the most recent software and operating system installed.
