Andrea McCarren, NF ’07, a reporter and fill-in news anchor for WUSA-TV, the CBS affiliate in Washington, D.C., has received a number of recent awards for her television news reporting. The honors include five Capital Emmys (for a career total of 15 regional Emmys); an Edward R. Murrow Award for Hard News Reporting; an Associated Press Award for Best News Series; and the Society for Professional Journalists Headliner Award for Best Investigative Reporting. McCarren also works online for USA Today, which shares its parent company, Gannett, with WUSA. While at Harvard for her Nieman Fellowship, she taught the first broadcast journalism courses in the university’s history.
