Nieman News

Speaking recently at the Nieman Foundation, Pamela Colloff, winner of the Louis Lyons Award for Conscience and Integrity in Journalism, offered a confession: “I love reporting. I hate writing.” Why then does the executive editor at the Texas Monthly do what she does? Because, she explains, “one event can shatter lives.” The Nieman class of 2014 selected Pamela Colloff, as winner for her “tenacious investigations into wrongful convictions, which exposed deep flaws in the criminal justice system.” During her acceptance speech, Colloff challenged other journalists to be not only reporters but storytellers, finding the visceral details to connect readers to their stories.
