Fellowships

Allowances

In addition to a monthly stipend, fellows receive some financial support for childcare and health insurance. Fellows are not eligible for health care insurance through Harvard University. Individuals who are unable to retain their current health insurance would have the option of purchasing a plan through the Massachusetts Health Connector, which is an independent state agency that serves as a marketplace for MA residents to find, compare, and enroll in health insurance.

Childcare

1 child age 12* or younger: $10,000
2 children 12* or younger: $12,000
3 children 12* or younger: $14,000
4 or more children 12* or younger: $16,000
Additional allowance for a child aged three* or younger: $10,000

All figures are per fellowship year and subject to change.

Note: The childcare allowance is provided only when children reside with the fellow throughout the fellowship year.

* Age determined on March 31 of application year.

Health Insurance Supplement**

Fellow and spouse $6,000 each
Each child younger than 18: $3,500

All figures are per fellowship year and subject to change.

** For fellows, the supplement is provided only if the fellow isn’t able to remain on an employer-sponsored health insurance plan during the fellowship year. Additionally, the supplement for spouse and children is provided only if those individuals reside with the fellow throughout the fellowship year.
