During a ceremony at Walter Lippmann House at Harvard University on May 2, 2025, the Nieman Foundation presented three of its annual journalism awards to the 2025 winners and finalists.
The Winners

Past editor of ICT (formerly Indian Country Today) - The Worth Bingham Prize for Investigative Journalism and The Taylor Award for Fairness in Journalism:
ProPublica’s skillfully reported series “Life of the Mother,” which reveals how state abortion bans in the U.S. have led to preventable deaths. - Taylor Award Finalists:
“Guilty of Grief,” a Miami Herald investigation into the systemic failures that led to the killing of a mentally ill young man by a Miami-Dade police officer and the serous consequences for his grieving mother when she sought justice and answers; and “Coming to America,” an intimate profile of Palestinian teenager Layan Albaz, who traveled alone from Gaza to Chicago to receive vital medical care after losing her legs in an Israeli airstrike.
