During a ceremony at Walter Lippmann House on May 3, 2018, the Nieman Foundation honored several investigative journalists and their work by presenting three of the foundation’s annual journalism awards:
- The I.F. Stone Medal for Journalistic Independence
Presented to investigative journalist and nonprofit news pioneer Charles Lewis - The Worth Bingham Prize for Investigative Journalism
Presented to The Miami Herald and reporters Carol Marbin Miller and Audra D.S. Burch for “Fight Club” - The Taylor Award for Fairness in Journalism
Presented to the Chicago Tribune, ProPublica Illinois and lead reporter Jason Grotto for “The Tax Divide”
Michael Rezendes, an investigative reporter for The Boston Globe’s Spotlight Team, moderated a panel discussion with the winners following the presentation of awards.
