Sydney Trent

Sydney Trent is an essayist and deputy editor of the Washington Post Magazine. She was a lead editor on that newspaper’s “Being a Black Man Series,” and served as chair of the newspaper’s committee to devise strategies for increasing female readership. Her Post essay on her attempt to become a baseball fan received a citation in Best American Sportswriting 2008, and her essay What Goes Unsaid was published in Mommy Wars. Trent was assistant managing editor/features at the Miami Herald, and has worked at the Virginian-Pilot and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
