2009 Nieman Conference on Narrative Journalism: Telling True Stories in Turbulent Times

Russ Rymer is a lecturer in science writing at the Massachusetts Institute for Technology and has written for the New Yorker, Harpers, Smithsonian, National Geographic, The Sciences, and the New York Times. His books include: Genie: A Scientific Tragedy and American Beach: A Saga of Race, Wealth and Memory. Rymer has been editor-in-chief of Mother Jones magazine, executive editor for Portland (Oregon) Monthly, and senior editor for magazines published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the New York Academy of Sciences. He was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2002.
