Louise Kiernan is a senior editor at the Chicago Tribune. She worked as a reporter and editor for the paper’s projects team for nine years, has run the urban affairs team, led the reinvention of the weekly “Perspective” section, and written for the Sunday magazine. She is a Pulitzer Prize winner and finalist, and was a 2005 Nieman Fellow.
