Katy Butler is a past finalist for a National Magazine Award. Her work has appeared in the New Yorker, the New York Times, the Village Voice, Vogue, More, Mother Jones, Tricycle, and Salon.com. For a dozen years, she worked for the San Francisco Chronicle writing city features, including a co-authored series on the impact of the AIDS epidemic with the late Randy Shilts. She teaches memoir writing at the Esalen Institute in California.
