Amy Harmon is a national correspondent for the New York Times covering the impact of science and technology on American life. She won a 2008 Pulitzer Prize for her series The DNA Age, which examines the personal dilemmas posed by new genetic technologies. Her article Facing Life with a Lethal Gene is included in the Best American Science Writing 2008. Harmon joined the Times in 1997 from the Los Angeles Times, where she was hired in 1990 to order fax paper and compile auto sales information after graduating from the University of Michigan.
