Sabin Russell is a freelance journalist living in San Francisco. He covered health policy and medical science for the San Francisco Chronicle for 22 years, and most recently, was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT. Russell has specialized in the coverage of global health, particularly infectious diseases such as HIV and influenza. In 2001, he and two colleagues at the San Francisco Chronicle were awarded the Science in Society Award from the National Association of Science Writers for their series on the failings of the nation’s flu vaccine program.
