Nieman Conference Insists Narrative Matters in Turbulent Times

Attendance dipped to slightly over 500 compared to more than 900 in past years. Some had just lost jobs. A few others wondered how long they'd have a desk to come back to. But speakers at last weekend's Nieman Conference on Narrative Journalism preached adaptation, not hand wringing. The Nieman Foundation has launched a new Web site to advance the practice of narrative journalism in the U.S. and the world; provide useful and inspiring resources for writers, editors, teachers and students of narrative; and offer a forum for the exchange of narrative-related ideas and resources.
