FY15 - FY16 Financial Highlights

Total revenue for the Nieman Foundation in FY15 remained consistent with income received in FY14. A few significant developments include:

  • A 3 percent increase in endowment returns made available for operations
  • Three non-federal sponsored grants (one from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and two from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation) in FY15 as well as five non-federal sponsored grants (two from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, two from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, and one from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation) in FY14
  • A 30 percent (approximate) increase in current use gifts, due to contributions made to the Anja Niedringhaus Nieman Fellowship for Visual Journalism

As 2015 comes to a close, our balance sheet remains strong, with more than $134,200,000 in long-term investments, an increase of about 1 percent from FY14.
