Just as the Nieman staff and fellows bid farewell to curator Bob Giles in the past year, the foundation also said goodbye to staff who have moved on to new ventures: Nieman Reports editor Melissa Ludtke and writing instructor Rose Moss. The Nieman community also noted the passing of two Nieman friends and supporters: Harvard’s Rev. Peter Gomes and former Boston Globe publisher Bill Taylor who helped create Nieman’s Taylor Family Award for Fairness in Newspapers.

Looking forward to 2012, the Nieman Foundation is well positioned to address the many changes that are shaping journalism today and to convene industry leaders, Nieman Fellows and alumni and the brightest minds at Harvard to find ways to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.
