Ines Pohl, a 2005 Nieman Fellow, has been named Editor of die tageszeitung, the leading leftist newspaper of Germany. Known as “the taz,” the alternative  daily offers social and political news coverage and commentary. Die taz is owned by 8,500 shareholders made up of readers, newsroom staff and board members. Before joining die taz, Ines was political correspondent for Media Gruppe Ippen based in Berlin.
