The American Society of Newspaper Editors recently selected the winners of its annual awards for distinguished writing and photography, and two Nieman Fellows were among those selected.

Boston Globe columnist Kevin Cullen, Class of 2003, is this year’s recipient of the Batten Medal for his reporting on people facing adversity. Cullen, a reporter at the Globe for 23 years, has been a columnist since July.

Washington Post reporter Anne Hull, Class of 1995, and colleague Dana Priest were awarded the Worth Bingham Prize for their series of reports on conditions at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the lives of veterans who have been treated at the hospital.
